24 Hours of Radio Retrofit

This was the goal, btw. The fantasy was I'd find a station or two who'd want to air all 24 hours. Perhaps on April 1st? ...Too late for 2026, but who knows what next year will bring, huh? Let's hope for lots of better things. Lots & lots.
Wouldn't that be something? Just imagine: You tune in to your favorite radio station and hear everything but, for a solid 24 hours. An April Fools Day to remember. Surely.
Anyway, I'm very close to this milestone. Streamed the final version of WIXU, in April. The final remix of KFLM will stream next month. And in June, a brand new 3-part mix, a long, long time in the making. Legendary Los Angeles. 1978.

That's twenty-four hours. In the can. And then what? I don't know!
There's more to do, if I find the time. I kind of need to find the time and the interest both, though. This has taken a bunch of my energy for a couple of years now. Might be time to rest on my laurels, for a bit. See what else I can get up to. Rotate the crops, so to speak.
I started this website as a place to share my thoughts and feelings, after all. Yes, radio. Yes, art. But not just that. I used to talk about writing a book. Autobiographical. I still want to do that. I've got pages and pages complete. Got distracted. And It's been fun.
Might be time for a re-set. We'll see. In the meantime, I hope there's still interest and folks will be excited to hear the latest mix. See the poster above for a clue...

I'm very pleased with the work, but have to be honest... The mixes I'm most proud of are the ones which are near and dear to my heart. You know, I grew up watching WKRP in Cincinnati, and connected with my Dad watching Northern Exposure (KBHR), in college.
Pump up the Volume (WKPX) was eerily familiar, to me, in my early twenties, and Good Morning, Vietnam (AFVN) set a brand new standard, for everybody. I love each of these - and my new favorite is WIXU, as my son and I have connected, watching Bob's Burgers.

I have ideas for how to return to both wkrp and kbhr, and would like to do that, someday. But I definitely feel it's important, too, to expand to additional stations and personalities. The only problem with that, is that most of it's new to me, so not quite as personal...
This last one, I had to work to find an angle which was inspiring to me, on a personal level. I think I pulled it off, but it wasn't as easy. It's an outlier, in that way. But it's a lot of fun to listen to.
TMI? Well, maybe so. That's my style though, if you've heard some of my other radio projects, you know that. I like to get kind of personal and even over-share. The world's full of people who do it the other way.
One of the DJs in this new mix has me beat though. He shares some raw emotion on the air, and it makes for a really interesting hour. It adds a lot. There are at least three stars on this new mix, in fact, and about six different DJs altogether...
But I'm still treating it like a surprise, so... you'll just have to wait and see!

Thanks for your interest, and thanks for reading. Thanks for listening, too. And thanks for your patience as the last three hours, of a full twenty-four, gets ready to stream in June. I can't wait to share it with the world.
