Update Me

Been busy. While the world spins out, I've been buried in the basement, up to my eyeballs in source material. A couple of updates? Yeah?
As I've written about, in the past, I've been learning how to do this in real time. About as real-time as pre-produced radio can be, anyway. Pull together, edit, listen. Re-edit, reevaluate, edit some more, etc. Sometimes even after the original's been shared...
I've just completed two of these latest remixes, and will find a spot to air them in The Wiggle Room (on the Sheena's Jungle Room stream, at wfmu.org), soon. That's one of the three news items, unless you count the fact that I updated the front page, with this new logo:

The two remixes are significantly different from their originals, to the point where it feels worth sharing in the Wiggle Room, hopefully this year. It's two of the shorter ones. WIXU and KFLM. Some essential additions, frankly.
And in one instance, it really just had to be done. It was the only episode I was never tempted to re-listen to... I figured that was a bad sign, and rolled up my musical director's sleeves.... Stay tuned for further improvement.

Item 2 of 3: There is a NEW 3-hour episode so close to being done, you might mistake it for finished. And speaking of all of the above... The reason it's taken so long is that I'm learning to sit on these things. For awhile. at least. Refresh those ears, before a final edit.
With enough time, I find I'm better able to come back and recognize the weak points, then be ruthless about cutting it all down to size: Something worth listening to over and again.
I'm listening to that version, right now as I write, and while it's definitely ready to share, I've already taken three or four notes on additional small changes to make, after totally rearranging it, all this past week as well. Not to mention everything that went into the original cut, over the past few months...
I wonder, as I whittle away at it all... What is this, exactly? It's not strictly a sound collage, or even a megamix. They're like little radio dramas with loads of good music. Or mixtapes with some unbelievable segues. It's sure taken my full attention. A great distraction, during dark times.

...The new mix is from 1978, by the way.
And the final update, for today is about... a side quest, of sorts. A Retrofit Side Quest, let's call it. It's the same concept I've been using, all this time, for Radio Retrofit, only this one isn't set in a radio station. It's an experiment, in that way ...spun off from the first. It's pretty fun. Circa 2000.
So, that's seven new hours, in process. Five BRAND NEW, and two retrofitted. So far, anyway. Maybe there will be time for more, this year. The realities of life couldn't be more distraction-worthy, than as of late. So, thank you, WFMU! For the lovely distraction.
Speaking of which, the station's, at the moment, pursuing listener contributions. You can support WFMU, right HERE. Be sure to tell them The Wiggle Room sent you (Look for: "Credit My Pledge To" when donating).
The Wiggle Room, I'll clarify, as it's cloudy, I figure, is the radio program which features not only Radio Retrofit, but my other show, Some Assembly Required, as well. It airs weekly on The Sheena's Jungle Room stream, at wfmu.org. It's 52 hours of bizarre, yearly. Or eccentric, at least. I'm proud to be a part of it, and contribute about a baker's dozen's worth, or more, to the mixture.
That's where you'll find my updates, first. Before I share them here. So, check it out! The Wiggle Room's online at wfmu.org/playlists/WG
Ok. Look for more soon. And feel free to drop me a line. Listeners are always encouraged to do that. Thanks for listening!
